For decades, for training and racing in endurance sports, fig or other fruit bars/cookies have just about the highest number of grams of carbs per weight unit/volume, which could matter if lots of your effort is uphill. For other sustained high output efforts in the mountains, gummy bears and other more sports-oriented fruit chews are good. Honey stingers. Poptart type things before. ProBar energy bars, etc.
At home? Bread, tortillas, pasta, and lots of legumes—especially lentils, chick peas, pinto and white beans—which is kind of a cool carb and protein twofer.
