I cannot agree more. I’ve started to push back in the ultra-endurance community and the obsession with “personalized nutrition” for race-day performance. It’s just another eating disorder. People think if they “win” their nutrition they will suddenly become the best ultrarunner ever so they fixate on it. “Gu doesn’t work for me” “I bonked because I couldn’t eat that cheaper pb sandwich, I need $10 Maurten” “If i just follow this strict strategy and track everything I will win that race”

I can smell a rat and by that rat I mean our friend ED. It’s the same control obsession. To be fair, I think having a variety of options in sports nutrition is great for keeping monopolies at bay, but this whole obsession with 1000g of carbs per hour OR must be fat burning is the way our community brings disordered eating in disguised as “personalized nutrition”.
